Pop and Go: Wellness Checks for Seniors
By Ewa Frydel, Owner
Wellness checks have to be the most requested service for our Pop and Go program. Many family caregivers need their mom and dad to be checked on while they’re away.
Perhaps you’re at work and can’t stop by on your lunch break as usual.
You could be out of town for a vacation with loved ones… long overdue.
Getting married.
Sick.
Or, you live somewhere else and noticed your mom or dad might need a little more attention.
There are many reasons you might need a wellness check on your senior living independently at home. That’s why we added this service to our newest program of elder care.
You may have some questions, and we’d like to answer some of them for you.
When Should I Reserve a Wellness Check?
If you know you’re not able to check on your senior in need, let us know ahead of time. We can have a caregiver booked and over to your aging parent’s home for 15-25 minutes to chat and say hello. If you’d like longer, you can ask for that, too. We want to make sure we attend right on time, so booking this as far in advance is best.
What Does a Caregiver Check On?
Our caregiver will simply ensure that your senior is happy and healthy. A wellness check usually involves making sure medications were taken, food was eaten, falls are prevented, and that everything is moving along as normally as it should. Wellness checks are also forms of companionship, which we also offer as a service. However, a caregiver will make sure your senior is well and offer you peace of mind.
It’s like having a security camera check in, only more in detail, with conversation, and a personal touch from a trained human soul.
Does My Senior Qualify for a Wellness Check?
This service is specifically for seniors who live independently and are pretty well off on their own, without much attention. For instance, if your elderly loved one does not need a caregiver by their side 24/7, this may be a great option to offer you leave or respite.
It’s designed for the senior who can manage their life and activities on their own, like walk around or fix themselves something to eat. Although, you may still want to send a friendly face over to visit your parent, to prevent loneliness and just to be sure everything is safe and sound.
Reassurance goes a long way and our wellness check can offer you just that.
